Michigan Award of Excellence for Improving Care in the Home Health Setting

Michigan Award of Excellence for Improving Care in the Home Health Setting Great Lakes Home Health and Hospice received MPRO’s, Michigan’s Medicare Quality Improvement Organization’s (QIO), 2005 Michigan Award of Excellence for Improving Care in the Home Health Setting. Great Lakes Home Health and Hospice received the accolade for measured improvement in patient care.

Debra L. Moss, MD, MBA, president and CEO, MPRO explains that the award is important in the role that it helps to foster an environment in which every person receives the right care every time. And the care that they receive at Great Lakes Home Health and Hospice is safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient and equitable.

The award honors home health companies in Michigan that are performing quality initiatives aimed at improving patient care. Agencies chose from a list of 41 clinical criteria to focus on quality initiatives and were required to monitor their improvement plans and demonstrate marked improvement care. The clinical topics have been marked as national health care priorities by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for West Michigan, 2005 Great Lakes Home Health and Hospice CEO William L. Deary was named the 2005 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for West Michigan. Since founding Great Lakes Home Health and Hospice with his wife, Cheri Lyn, in 1994, Deary has led the charge toward becoming one of the finest and most comprehensive private home health care organizations in the country.

Deary’s focus is on the true purpose of Great Lakes Home Health and Hospice’s work – the patients.

“Our priority has always been, and will continue to be, providing superior patient care in the comfort, security and privacy of the home,” Deary said.

And he has brought national recognition to the company because of this. Great Lakes Home Health and Hospice consistently meets or exceeds the national average in all time sensitive quality measurements by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
