AnodyneŽ Therapy Reduces Pain and Numbness of Peripheral Neuropathy

Content Manager Image

Great Lakes Home Health and Hospice is one of the few home health care companies certified as an Anodyne therapy care specialist. All of the therapists at Great Lakes Home Health and Hospice have an AnodyneŽ Therapy Unit with them to take care of patients, every day.

The AnodyneŽ Therapy System helps to reduce the pain and numbness associated with peripheral neuropathy by stimulating circulation and improving sensation in nerves in the feet, legs and hands. When your patient’s daily lifestyle is limited because of pain or numbness, AnodyneŽ Therapy can help restore their independence and improve their quality of life.

Administration of the AnodyneŽ Therapy System

The treatment is administered three times a week by placing credit-card sized pads directly on skin wherever a nerve malfunction exists. The pads release infrared light that stimulates nerves and enables nitric oxide, a natural pain killer, to be released more easily into the body.

Treatments sessions last 30 to 45 minutes, during which time your patient may feel a warm, relaxing sensation while resting in a comfortable chair. The pads are then removed and the patient may be required to do some light stretching and balancing exercises. Our health care professionals may massage the area on which the AnodyneŽ Therapy pads were placed and use other therapeutic modalities for pain management.
